G.A.S. Thread

For some reason I really want one of the 2012 Gibson Flying V reissues. They didn't make many of them so I'm having a hell of a time finding one for a reasonable price.

I've been missing my old boss syb pedal, but I'm sure there are better then the syb out there. What's a good synth pedal?

There are several things I would like to have but nothing that is a burning desire at this point. I have really good gear that I love and plenty of it. More than I play regularly......

But....a guitar from Rowka (gonna have to be a flakey tele) and a bass from Brad are on the agenda once I actually start taking a paycheck again.....

And an Engl Invader 2 head and cab and the new Hughes and Kettner Triamp MKIII half stack as well.

Oh, and a vintage blueline SVT hed and fridge in minty condition and an old fliptop.

Couple of custom Carvin guitars and a PRS or 3 would also be nice.....

But, yeah.....I don't have G.A.S.

Mesa Subway amp, Mesa Prodigy, a pair of LDS 112 & 112/6.5 cabs, bass from Brad, 2.5 basses from Rowka...oh, and a couple pedals: DOD Milk Box, Bass Chorus, and TAF Fuzz, as well as a Zoom B3 to record with.
Almost forgot the 70's V4B that I've wanted for over a decade now...

The Subway 800? I want one too. Big thread on it "over there" with a cool video showing some of the manufacturing.

I'd love to get my hands on some of Alex's cabinets but they're prohibitively expensive to get over here (for now, anyway). He's a super guy too.

I don't have a lot of GAS right now but I do have a bit of a yearn for a Geddy Lee Jazz bass, a Thunderluxe and a Dingwall Afterburner II. Don't have the funds for any of those things right now, though. All of my (admittedly limited) GAS money for the last year has gone into DI R&D.

about the only thing I really gas for is a micro amp that would accurately replace my 800RB.

I've heard some of the micros do a decent impersonation, but I want the real deal, only smaller

oh, and an EHX pitchfork and an MXR M-80

Assuming the 800rb is still working properly, I don't see any reason to replace it. It's not big or heavy enough to really need a micro replacement, IMO.

Oh, I forgot about my GAS for a Diamond compressor and a Way Huge Swollen Pickle.

it's not "heavy" per se, especially compared with tube heads. but it weighs as much as one of my cabs. my desire for a micro is simply to lighten the load as much as reasonably possible

nope, not happening. I know damned good and well that the only thing that sounds like an 800RB is an 800RB, and will not be trying to replace it

the 800 is the only head I've ever bought twice, I won't be buying it again.

The MB500 does an admirable job of mimicking the 800rb running clean but the real magic of the 800rb is when you drive it hard and get it into clipping; the famous GK "hitting the rails" grind. The MB500 doesn't do that.

There is a "GK rails in a pedal" thread over on TB where they designed a box that mimics that vibe. I think it's sort of a DIY/shared thing, i.e. you'd have to build it yourself. I do have most of the parts, maybe I will build one and stick it in a 1590 case to see how it works. If it's a credible facsimilie, using it with an MB500 should put you in the right place. I'd build one for you.

Then again, C7 is pretty likely to be correct, so don't sell your 800.

I'd like to put together a pedalboard with tuner, a couple of fuzzes, wah, and maybe a synth.

BTW... thanks, MLW. I thought I was finished playing with pedals
