It's not the AP, it's Gallup (the AP doesn't conduct polls). And it's not 86%, it's 84%. And that's not "up to," it's a drop from late April and the second lowest he's recorded. And it's part of Gallup reporting record lows for his overall approval, dropping to 38% (tied with the weekly average from early April).

That WaPo article goes into depth about why there's serious problems for him if he doesn't keep the support of independent voters (who were almost 1/3 of his votes, and who are more negative on him than the general electorate).

The only reason I would be upset if the forum crashed and we lost historical posts is if these aren't here in 2020. I would be disappointed.

Really?

Because his approval ratings are lower than any president dating back over 70 years for the first 100+ days of his presidency

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com...roval-ratings

And his ratings among Republicans is not 86%. It's well below that.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/5...ers-Ipsos-poll

In fact his numbers among republicans are at all time lows and dropping for him (75.2%)

Where did you get your information from? Where do you see these numbers from the AP?
Did you really link something from DailyKos and expect people to click on it?

The poll numbers are properly cited, non-editorial content - i.e., something which pretty much everyone here would accept, no matter the source. That said, here's the Reuters/Ipsos poll mentioned, directly from Reuters, if someone does indeed have a reason to object to properly cited, non-editorial content.

I'm not ever going to DailyKos. I don't want to find it in my Facebook feed later. Thank you for providing a different link.

I would have to disagree on that point. Many liberal media outlets drastically cloud the difference between op-ed and news story, but MSNBC is really bad about it. Just as bad as Fox. And they are both terrible at it.
If Fox sat on one side of a teeter-totter and MSNBC sat on the other, it would balance perfectly.

Speaking of MSNBC, I was wondering how long it would take Joe and Mika to hook up. They had a ton of chemistry from day 1. They are officially engaged. And I just gave it away that I watch MSNBC occasionally.

The on-air fights gave it away

I just gave away that despite being in the UK I watch some MSNBC content too

What the left hasn't realized is that the more hysterical the Lamestream press gets the happier the Republican base gets. The AP reports Trump's approval rating is up to 86% among Republican voters. And with Biden calling out Hillary as a poor candidate 2020 is looks more and more like a Trump landslide.

I know. Ya'll told me I was wrong about 2016, too. So for you guys:

Why do you think that Biden calling out Hillary as a poor candidate will increase Trump's chances of winning 2020?

I hope to hell it's not Biden in 2020. Franken would get my vote. Biden wouldn't.

Biden should have run last year. I'm afraid he might be too old in 2020...still better than Hillary though! (Let's just all hope she is done trying...)

Al Franken has impressed me in the hearings I have seen him participate in. Don't know too much about him beyond that. Didn't he use to be on SNL or something?

Franken is as much a democratic socialist as Bernie as far as I can tell. Folks that run the D probably won't have any of it.

I don't know about the Russia stuff. I have my personal feelings about it, but I'll wait until Mueller completes his findings. However, the part of the meme that does have some truth to it is the bottom portion. People have been lashing out illogically since it was announced he won the electoral college.

I've been flagging Russia problems since at least March 2016. Because the problems are deep, they are repeated across multiple advisers and his own behavior / tweets / public remarks, and the Russians themselves struggle to hide their glee or their comments.

But I suppose Clapper, Brennan, Comey, Yates, Schiff, Morell, even Ryan, and others are all collectively high and not pointing to substance. Or at least there couldn't possibly be a half-dozen Trump advisers with a long history of engaging Russia in the last 2 years, including on subjects like the sanctions. None of that could have happened if the dank meme had any resemblance to reality.

Of course, we still haven't seen JtD acknowledge that some of his favorite sources during the campaign were Russian intelligence ploys. Where'd you dig up the meme, btw?

I remember hearing a call for impeachment from some folks something like a week after the election. That is illogical. They didn't even have any particular charge in mind or at least failed to mention it.

Would you consider it illogical for people to not want a president who explicitly claims he's a serial sexual assailant? Because that's not what others said about him, that's what he said about himself...Of course, more than a dozen women have also said it, so for once, he made a claim with supporting evidence.

How about a president who committed fraud? Or a president who openly courted white supremacists and neo-Nazis?

That last one isn't criminal, obviously, but the line in the meme isn't specifically about impeachment - is it actually "illogical" for criminal activity or "promoting white supremacy" to be the basis of saying "I want Trump gone"?

Question: At that point (the day after the election), had Trump already been accused of (and not only admitted to, but bragged about) crimes?

I too think it was silly, but I'd also say the idea that there was no possible basis is ignoring the reality of the man's long-standing patterns of behavior.
