Talkin' jive bullshit like you're gonna strut down to the pilgrims and offer yourself up for a feast, turkey.

The guitarist in my band writes shit like that, and it was a challenge to switch into "bass parts written by lead guitarist" mode. I learned the parts, but I hate them like crazy.

I think it may just be beyond my skill ceiling. I'm not gonna stop trying, but I'm just not comfortable doing 4 string skips and my legato has always sucked ass.
I hate legatos as well. It's regular coffee for me.

Guitarist in new band wrote stuff I can't play. Feeling like about the worst bass player in the world right now.
He wrote your bass parts or is it that you're trying to cop his guitar licks on bass or something else?!? I couldn't hang with copying my guitarist at times; I just wrote stuff I could play.

He's got very specific ideas about the bass parts, and the music is so tight and there's so much going on guitar wise that it basically requires a lot of unison stuff to keep it from being a giant mess. In this case I was trying to learn a riff with a 4-string skip and a bunch of pull off stuff where my weak legato technique is causing me to be sorta inconsistent. I'm getting the riff more under my fingers now, which is nice.

I'm fairly confident I can play anything my guitarist can. It's just a matter of him using techniques I can't do fluidly.

Fucking mando player starting bitching about my tone again last night, as soon as I plugged in the NS NXT. I told him it was a non-starter and I didn't want to hear it anymore. I did turn down the highs a bit and reduce the volume, but WTF. He dislikes a hi-fi bass tone because the highs are in the tonal range of his mando. We have a few big gigs coming up including the Phila Folk Fest, but after that I'm going to quit because I'm sick of his shit.

Show up to these gigs with a Jazz bass strung with SS roundwounds.

Thats what sort of started this / made it worse. When my NXT was broken (I always bring a spare bass), I used my fretless J, which has Barts and is strung with d'addario chromes - basically SS covered in nickel. Lots of mwah happening and he bitched and moaned about it the whole time. Says he is still traumatized by that night.

Last week but....

Wife booked us for a Yosemite trip. Great! In Yosemite terms, it was a last minute booking so my wife scrambled to find hotel rooms for 3 nights. We ended up with 3 different hotels, just scraping for whatever was available.

First hotel? Some nice lodge, she says. They do all kinds of stuff! Except put air conditioning in their rooms, apparently At least it was only $450 for one night and we only stayed at that hotel a single night. No free breakfast, though they did have a pool, zipline for the kids, and lots of playground stuff.

Second hotel also seemed to be going for that "rustic" feel and lacked air conditioning. Bonus for a pool with only a single working light around it at night. The other light was out and no light at all in the pool.

At least the 3rd hotel and Yosemite itself were great.

I feel pretty beat down by work.
It's really taken a toll on me, physically, mentally and emotionally. Starting to regret my decision to accept the promotion. The money is appreciated, but I'm certain the past 2 months have shortened my life expectancy more than burritos and french fries have. I try to leave work at work, but that isn't working anymore.

Dude, I haven't been able to do that since the 90's

Do you have a link to your band's website or some music? I'd like to hear his playing/singing so I can decided whether or not he's qualified to criticize anyone else.

Guess I should stop being a bitch, then.

Sean Hannity evidently makes $29m a year.

That makes me think less of American society than anything related to the Kardashians.

He draws the advertisers that are responsive to the electorate. Does Hannity draw more viewers than CNN all by himself. I read where they were 13th on cable after Andy Griffin reruns on Nic-st-Nite.
