I've been wanting a pair of bike gloves, but most are hideous or too expensive. Enter these vintage REI gloves I found for $5.

$40+ socks holy crap. what kind did you get? what makes them so great?

I was going to try and find some more fitted socks. These generic size 6-12 ones are for the birds.
If you haven't already, Gold Toe Windsor Wool is worth a try:

https://www.goldtoe.com/shop/mens/so...ks-3-pair-2218

I have six pair each in black and brown.

Even after a couple of years of daily wear, each pair is still "airport security" ready.

Of course, YMMV.

not a fan of plain designs. I'm definitely not lacking in socks, just that a lot of them weren't meant for dress shoes so gonna have to figure out which work and which don't.

ordered a handful of socks from that place ezpz linked, they had some on sale for not too much. also grabbed one of the escorial for fanciness.

I have birdseye, herringbone, and other patterned wool OTC socks, but mostly solid color OTC wool.

My favorite socks in the winter are these: http://www.nomanwalksalone.com/index...ocks-navy.html

So thick. So warm.

Every time I see that web address I think it is "Norman walks alone" and it makes me feel sad for Norman. He must be so lonely.

I like wool hunting and alpine mountaineering socks in winter.

I wore socks a 'barely into the double digits' number of times in the past calendar year.

I wear OTC socks 80% of the time. 10% no-show ankle socks. 10% no socks.

No show ankle socks until the temps are below freezing. I don't understand why anyone would want to wear OTC socks in warm weather. Let those ankle experience life. Feel the breeze.

If it's too hot for OTC, you can bet I won't be wearing long pants.

41 degrees fahrenheit is too hot for OTC.

I wish my partner would get on board with this, neither of us are particularly fashionable to say the least but he wears white OTC socks with shorts and lets them sag down to his ankles and it makes me cringe.

On the plus side he doesn't wear them with mesh clogs any more so we're slowly making progress.

Powerstep orthotic insoles on Amazon for $23.99. Not as good as custom insoles but much, much cheaper!!

I wear old cotton khakis when I fish in the heat. OTC socks underneath. Old 100% cotton dress shirts are great cover over a cotton T-shirt and you can turn the collar up to keep the sun off your neck.

Much cooler in the Florida sun than just shorts and a T-shirt.

I just got these in, and OMG.... I can confirm, without a doubt, that they're socks.

I've heard they are more than socks. Can you confirm/deny?

Would wear the first two pairs from the left, but question why you bought cotton socks. Sock purchase fail.

the two on the right aren't quite what I was expecting. the purple pair are awesome.

the cotton ones were all half off iiirc, and I consider myself an equal opportunity fabric user. I wanted to try a pair from each offering. just from a quick wear, the indian sea cotton ones are actually the most comfy, but we'll see how things are after a full day.

will be curious to see how the wool performs in hot weather.

That's what you fashionistas claim, certainly.

Oddly the wool pair say "warm" and the cotton pair say "cool", but who can trust labels these days.
