The EB US Politics Mega-Thread (Possibly contentious)

Who are your picks for this round of Douchebag Vs Shit Sandwich?

Clinton and Rubio currently have the best odds.

I'm hoping for Nikki Haley Vs Joe Biden as it would be good for a pile of pork for South Carolina.

I expect Hillary Clinton will be the Democrat candidate, although I prefer Elizabeth Warren.

Chris Christie or Jeb Bush will run and win.

Not sure who the Democrat will be. Hillary is a horrible politician, and if she couldn't get past Obama in 2008, eight years later it isn't going to be any better. Maybe Warren?

All of this sums up my thoughts on Nov. 5th, 2014. Particularly the Hillary is a horrible politician.

Jeb Bush would make a solid candidate for the Republicans. I question if the voters will be able to separate him from 43, however. He is a much different person. Scott Walker would be another potential candidate, imho. So, Bush, Paul, Walker. Would it be crazy to include Condi as a Veep candidate, too?

I don't see Hillary as the nominee for the Dems. As others have stated, she just isn't that good of a politician. I'm not certain that Warren is a good candidate either, but admit she could get the base out. Biden? No way. What Democrat governors do we have out there who have been in place for several terms? One of those should be in the mix, too.

I think its Clinton vs "to be determined". She won't give up til she gets the nod.

For the GOP my guess would be Scott walker, bobby jindal, or as a dark horse....ted Cruz.

Clinton wins in a landslide despite being a dem as the GOP has no viable candidates.

If Paul Ryan runs for the GOP he gets the nod but I don't think he runs.

Lol Elizabeth Warren. She would have to do a swift about-face right now on her stances and rhetoric to even be considered for primary ballot placement by the people who decide who get$ to run.

Either that, or they let her go ahead and run wild with her platform, and then we would get to see another Obama-class reversal once she hits the White House.

That nerdy $200+ millionaire was bought for $2,500 by the worst rector in UVa history. No thanks.

Rand Paul will run. He was out there fundraising hard for a lot of people. Will be a funny primary fight with Cruz, I imagine. Coming to a theater near you, the Shutdown Twins.

I don't know, I think Rand is going to to run a smarter campaign focusing on shit that everyone likes, but I'm sure he will say enough nutty shit in the primaries to ruin his chances.

No doubt Rand is smarter than Cruz. Rand will know how to cloak his cray-cray, and be a little more ambiguous to grab a wider spread of the GOP base and some independents. Cruz doesn't give a shit and can't work with any other party luminaries.

Neither one of them has any idea how to govern, which is why I think they're still both idiots, outside of their naked ambition and intra-party / campaigning talents.

What will sink Paul and Cruz, imho, is that they are Senators and have not actually governed. The current Community Organizer-in-Chief has voted "present" since being in the Illinois legislature, which would be a more extreme example of why most people would prefer someone who has had an executive position previously.

Agreed. I noticed on an election night broadcast they (Fox) asked if he was running in 2016. I can't imagine a less electable candidate running than Cruz.

no, I'd go with 95% chance she runs and > 50% she wins. The Repubs have 2 years to fuck it up royal and you can count on them to do that!

I always considered Hillary a strong candidate (as far as electability/support). Curious why some of you think otherwise. I would normally suggest any dem following what Obama gave to auto lose, but the republicans really aren't offering anything and she purposefully separated herself from him.

Hillary isn't even going to make it out of her own party primary. As others have mentioned here, she isn't a very good politician. She isn't charismatic. She is no longer the media darling. She has nothing going for her except Bill and wherever they campaigned this season, those candidates still lost.

Disagree on the "no longer the media darling" part. She just had the misfortune of hitting the same time as the Mega-Obama Train pulled into town. She's gotten good press ever since.
