Yeah, I was basically staring a frozen excel screen from 2:30 until 4:30 when I said "eff it, I'll fix it on Monday" and left early.
Sounds familiar.
Fix it Monday.

Enjoy the weekend.

Waited in all day for a call from the mortgage company, which was promised this morning and then, when I chased it early afternoon, promised again this afternoon. My phone didn't ring. The weather today was the nicest of the year so far and I spent the whole day sitting in the house waiting for the damn phone to ring.
No mobile phone?

They don't have my mobile phone number.

I don't get it. giving it to them rather then waiting indoors all day could have been an option and when you had to chase them up...

Yes, you are being a dick. I chased them up using their online form, which only gives an option for a landline number. It's a mortgage company - they insist on the landline number.

Dick!

Anytime someone insists on a landline I just put in my cell anyways. A phone is a phone, they shouldn't need to dictate what type of device I use to talk to them.

Of course I don't really see that much anymore.

jonjohn, sorry for not realising you were actually apologising

t3ch, it tends to only be mortgage companies. It's a security thing. The landline number is registered to the address I want the mortgage for.

I grew up with fluoridated water in Wisconsin. I never had a cavity.

Portlanders are rabid when it comes to fluoridation---they seem to think it is part of the Great Conspiracy, or whatever.
Yup. City folk lampoon the toothless redneck but think their winning smiles are hereditary. The fluoride they brushed on their teeth everyday gave them gluten allergies, yo.

Got to work an hour early on accident, drinking coffee and listening to the totally demoralized chatter of my coworkers, lamenting the ridiculous mismanagement and complete arrogance of the new boss they sent us to replace the incompetent perpetual vacationer we suffered through before.

So the person who I was doing work for now has cold feet, so looks like I won't be part of starting a company. Bummer.

On one hand, it's a disappointment given how excited you were. On the other, based on what we talked about last we met, it might be a relief for you. Sucks that you put as much into it as you did, but clean hands shine bright.

Anyways, he's the dumbass for disregarding the intangible elements of the partnership.

I disagree. No one is a dumbass. We don't know why he got cold feet. Sometimes we get to the point of no return and then start thinking, worrying, and wonder what's been left unattended to.

- It's like the bandmate that wants to rehearse and never feels ready to go onstage.
- Could be the dreamer who is scared to fail and never gives anything a real go.
- A visionary who can't effectively lead a team into action.

None of them are dumbasses, there are personality strengths and weaknesses that help determine where a person is good and where they're a detriment. And hopefully this person learned something about himself.

This man is not a dumb ass. I've been straight with him from the get go. He's wise to do his due diligence. If he didn't I wouldn't want to go into business with him.

No, he's a dumbass. I know a thing or two about being a dumbass. Besides, calling folks names is fun. Would "nincompoop" have been better, or at least more fun?

All I know is, he had an excited, experienced fellow on his side and I hope for his sake that he puts some socks on. Due diligence is for suckers anyways.

Arrgh.

I have to buy a new set of sprockets and a chain before the current ones fail. That could have some serious consequences.

I really don't need any extra expenses right now, no matter how small.
