oh oh...is the prize a tiny DI box with a Sowter transformer?

Because in that case the answer would be 'yes please'

It was a solid episode. I still don't like how they cast Euron Greyjoy, but one can't have everything I suppose.
why's that?

Also, great opening scene at The Twins. I knew right away what was going to happen, but still enjoyed it.
I don't think they were going for 'surprise' with that scene. More of a "FUCK YEAH SHITS GOIN DOWN THIS SEASON BITCHEEESSS" kickoff to series.

Agreed. I think they were going for a meaner version of Jack Sparrow and missed.
I don't remember having any problems with him last season, he seemed unhinged and murderous enough to be like the books. His talk to Cersei did seem a bit off though. Then again IIRC he did seem pretty calculated in the books, with the way he won the kingsmoot, etc., so maybe not.

I didn't like the Euron scene.

That opening was tremendous.

I think the actor portraying Euron Greyjoy does a fine job, but it's just quite a bit different than what I pictured from the novels.

Aside from the obvious eyepatch issue, I pictured Euron as a bit larger and more imposing, and almost handsome in a malevolent sort of way. His hair should be jet black and I pictured him with a longer face with slightly hollow cheeks. He was mad, but shrewd and calculating. The Euron in the TV show seems more jester-like and acts a fool out in the open, whereas Euron in the books would be more collected in such a presentation - he would, as fervent practitioner of black magics, be cruel and cunning behind the scenes.

I can't complain about casting though, as they had to make some changes. Emilia Clark, while beautiful, is too short and curvaceous for Danaerys, who is taller and more waif-like in the books, not too mention the silvery hair and violet eyes.

I couldn't imagine anyone other than Peter Dinklage playing Tyrion, although he's a handsome fellow - quite unlike how Tyrion was described by George R.R.R.R.R. Martin. I always pictured Tyrion as looking more like Warwick Davis (the guy who played Willow), if Warwick Davis had his face smashed in with a frying pan then had his nose cut off.

Dinklage is awesome in that role though. Just really really great.

Well, he did have to go finish off killing The Master so the strigoi won't take over the world. Walder Frey can't be in two places at once.

Between the new GoT season and Twin Peaks reboot (which is totally fucking weird and totally fucking awesome at the same time), I'm really going to be enjoying Sunday nights for the foreseeable future.
I can not get my head around the new Twin Peaks. My wife and daughter like it but I find it unwatchable. I don't remember enough of the original series, other than it was awesome until the end, so I don't know if it would help to go back and watch that?

I'm dreading the end of the GoT; scared that it will leave us completely gutted when the Lanisters or the White Walkers kill all the heros and rule the 7 Kingdoms, vs the fear that a completely cliche "good always does triumph over evil" ending will be wholly unsatisfying... but damn I can't wait for the ride. I hope George is providing a lot of input into it.

I think at this point they just have to have someone transcribe the TV show into a book.

I would imagine that the wind has been taken out of his sails with HBO finishing the story way before him. Aren't there supposed to be 3 books left?

It might help to go back and watch the last few episodes of season 2...but even then, the new season is just plain fraught with David Lynch surrealism. It's even more off the reservation than the original two seasons, considering that it's now on Showtime (rather than a CBS/NBC/etc.). As a result, Lynch doesn't really have much holding him back, so he's giving it both barrels, so to speak.

I dig it, but I really love most everything Lynch has produced - it's weird as fuck, but for some reason I really like it. YMMV.

The original was okay. The reboot was stupid. I ditched it after 2 episodes.

It's very rare that anyone can do Fantasy well in film. HBO got it right.

You and me both, brother.

However I do enjoy this show, even though I have no idea what is going on most of the time or recognize some of the characters and I can't remember every detail of their long convoluted backstories. And sometimes I doze off before the episode ends, and have to watch the next day. This and Saul are the only things I watch, and Saul is over for the season.
