What are those things called? I can't for the life of me remember. But I do remember that their environment isn't ideal for them they can suck in their little piggie nose and legs and survive up to 30 years.

Maybe. I doubt it. The guy may be an entitled Dorchester, but increasing the net revenue of a business by a factor of 20 in 5 years is impressive. I don't care what business it is. He obviously has some business chops.

That's not a slam on you, but that kind of success is not as easy as it looks. Even with a head start. It's easy to say "I could do that" but the reality is most people would fail miserably. Some would succeed and very few would have that measure of success.
I don't disagree with any of that.

I don't disagree but it's definitely easier when you have a head start like he did. I've certainly seen people take over the family business and destroy it in short order but I've seen a lot more people do very well in that situation. The success rate for starting from scratch is considerably lower, IME.

I know people like him. Grew up in well to do families, well educated, given opportunities that most of us don't have access to and think the reason why everyone doesn't have a lucrative business/career is because they are lazy. I worked for one of them. He's a fucking insufferable douche. A highly motivated, savvy, hard working douche, but a douche all the same. He deserves a lot of credit for starting a high tech business in his basement and eventually selling it for $20M+ no doubt, but he seems to forget that he had a lot of help along the way.

I don't know about that. I grew up the destitute son of an NASA Engineer and overcame these humble beginnings to become one of the most disrespected bassist in history. My bootstraps even Suck!

He obviously has some business chops..

You don't get those level chops from running a cash register at Wal Mart. You get 'em from being on the inside of a family business that can afford to send to to the kind of school to polish those chops.

Absolutely. No argument here.

My girlfriend works at a financial firm. They have clients like this who can't figure out why they can't afford to save for retirement AND have two vacation homes.
