I did enjoy shooting up the strip club and picking up a hooker after losing the police. I suggest getting a hooker while in a convertible.

I've played for years during my lunch break and haven't run into any issues. I can close the door to my cube though. I use a Tascam unit and AKG headphones that fit easily into my gig bag.

I picked up an Ashbory bass so my carry to work would've
lighter, but I keep breaking the G string on it.

I do it all the time. I very often go straight to rehearsal from my office, and there is no way in hell I'm gonna leave it in the car all day.

Never have brought a bass, but, I keep a nylon string classical guitar in my office. Stress reliever.

I do it all the time - usually have gig/practice/uni before/after work so have to have it with me!

I used to keep an SX at my desk at work and would play with it during lunch.

I don't anymore because after awhile I never played it, not to mention I wouldn't leave any of my current instruments at work.

I wish I had time to do that at work. Also, the morons I work with would probably stand around me in a semi circle and request things like "Stairway to Heaven".

i don't, but probably could if i used headphones or played acoustic.

the problem would be keeping others from screwing with my bass. we've got about 1 other musician in the office (that i know of) and the rest would just fuck with it, and likely mess something up.

plus, in the course of a normal day, i don't have time to pick up a bass.

I definitely would not be allowed since there's no where to really do it in cubicle land without disturbing others. If I was important enough to have my own office I'd love having one where I could practice during lunch.

But I do work from home about 3 days a week and on those days I'll usually grab a bass or guitar and noodle a few songs or riffs just to take my mind off work before i move on to the next task.

At my last job I was surrounded by custom basses in varying stages of completion. But then I was the boss so my opinion doesn't count here.

No, but I do have all my gear shipped to my work when I buy it.

When I worked at a golf course, I'd take the Daion with me and practice when things got slow. I put in a lot of practice.

Since I worked alone, I never got crap about it from the manager.

+1

I had my Zon delivered in winter and I left it in the box all day to get up to temperature. When I finally opened it, my boss (who played some acoustic 20 years ago) asked to play it. He's a reasonable guy so I said yes. He didn't damage it, but wasn't very careful with it either--I was a nervous wreck. He's only had cheaper Peavey guitars and I don't think he realized how much I had just spent on that instrument.

The head of my whole division is a bass player so absolutely! I've brought either my Phil bass or the Sadowsky in for practice, gigs or taking them into the shop.

I'm also in the "I get all my stuff shipped to me at work" group. Partly because of weather factors, and partly because I don't exactly live in the nicest of neighborhoods, and shit's likely to disappear from my porch if it's sitting there all day.

It's not so bad now, but back when I was constantly flipping shit, the UPS man hated me. Though - for anything heavy (cabs, etc) I would always go down to the loading dock and get it from the truck as opposed to making him haul it up here only for me to haul it right back down. Same way if I was shipping a cab out - when he came up to get the rest of our stuff, I'd follow him down and actually put the cab on his truck for him.

The people upstairs from me didn't appreciate when the big ol' Bergantino box got dropped on their counter. I try to get stuff delivered home.
As for practicing at work, that's something definately worth considering. I could keep my SX here with a headphone amp easily.

I used to at one of the places I worked, as others have said, at lunch I would run through scales and theroy. I didn't bring an amp or anything, it was just a learning tool.

The only draw back was fielding all the questions (are you in a band?, what do you play? etc., ) and "I know a guy/my son plays" stories from co-workers, the first couple of times it was ok, after about the 100th time it was getting annoying.

So, I stopped bringing it.

I could totally do it, but I have no idea when I'd actually find time to play.

True

It was hard because I didn't want to be mean, to the people I work with, but I wasn't getting to practice at all and the stories and questions/answers were cutting into actual work time.

I miss where I last worked- had a nice(albeit, out of business now) musical instrument dealer 1 block away. I used to hang there on my lunch hours and play. They had a couple Peavey Cirri(US) and I'd plug 'em into a nice new Peavey Max112. Yup...miss that.

Just as a side note, did you like the Cirrus? I played one last Wednesday and I absolutely loved the feel.
