I have no idea about the costs - but i know a thick guitar string won't happen for ya. Can you not buy seperate strings over there? I usually get my spare C strings in a seperate shipment - and buy a set of 5s for the rest of the bass. Then again, i live in the arse end of nowhere, where they stare at me for wanting anything in my local store.

I'm going to have to it more and more considering i'm writing all of the new stuff on the BEGC bass. and i refuse to buy more A and D strings than i need. :D

i want to try stringing BADGC, and tuning CGCFB to match up with the guitards in my metal band. make my 5-string more usable (IMO).

Good quality and value?

My personal favourites are D'Addario Pro Steels, but the Ernie Ball nickels aren't too bad for the price either - everyone else seems to gouge you for playing a 6er or they're just pants.
