usually just a few (mm.) :P :D I swear by 100-045's usually the 4 string set in long scale is .045 , .065 , .080 , .100 I will use a lighter set on say a short or med scale instrument , but that's what I have settled on for a long scale 4 string set . For me if I go lighter then the little g string feels to weak and usually sounds a bit to weak and more than a .100 and I get more bass than I need/want . I mostly notice those 2 things , also the string to string tension just feels right with this set . I think it's just a personal preference , I also mainly use DAddario Pro steels ;)

only tension ....
each gauge and wrapping style will give different tensions
to avoid un necessary aggro and set ups....stick to the 45-105 regime for rounds and try to keep to either round core or hex core...
we all have a set gauge to base our buying on...then we can alter as we try out the various strings...
i use light gauges for bending and sustain...
some assholes use tree trunks so they can belt the string and get rid of aggression...:D
its all in experience and trial..

I'm pretty sure they are TI Jazz Rounds.
