Would you rather
a) spend 1.5 hours talking to a car salesman?
OR would you rather
b) be dragged nekkid over a cactus field tied behind a greyhound bus?
OR would you rather
c) sandpaper the asshole of an alligator in a phone booth?
...
What was that second option again?

Only because it's a guitar and it's for a singer.
Now if it were a bass for another person, I would say that's hobby time. :D

It's a Jackson, apparently one of the pickups doesn't work and the other only half-assedly works.
I repaired both of my guitarist's guitars Thursday night. The jacks cam loose on both and rather than removing the jack plates, he just started turning the jack nut. After about ten turns, snap. Dumbass.

You expect something different from a guitard?
I'm going to eat bacon and eggs at the local spot, then go get stuff for halloween costume, I also have to help my brother pull out a dock and boatlift. Then I go to a costume party and drink beer like a mofo. I don't feel bad for you peeps who have to work. :super I like my day better:super:

I'll then be loading the van up for my gig tonight. Around noon, my family and I are headed in to Chicago to see a movie and then my daughter is performing at Second City late afternoon. When we get back, I'll throw the basses in the van and head to the gig.

I only hire people with a minimum of 5 years in the biz. But there is bound to be a 3rd party agency somewhere near you. No schooling necessary, it's not like you can get a degree in collections. OJT is what it's all about. It's one of those strange jobs where it's based on personality. Not everyone can do it. you're still all over the Tacoma right?
Here's how I negotiate (I was in the business briefly, if that counts for anything)...
-test drive previously
-commit to the sale up front firmly, but with the caveat that any misstep will blow the sale. My line is "you've already got the sale, all you've got to do is make the numbers work and not do anything to blow it"....then grin.
-if you talk trade, dont let the salesman do his 'silent walkaround' its a phsychological trick, not part of the appraisal - that's what the appraisers job is.
-sit down with a calculator and a stopwatch and inform the salesleach that he has exactly 60 minutes then you're leaving. tell him to bring over his sales manager and the finance manager to the negotiation table so he doesnt have to run laps.
-[if you feel comfortable doing this, cool if not, hypothesize] knowing the nuts and bolts of your trade, your down, your finance eligibility and the invoice price, make an educated guess on the holdback funds and put together a fair price/pymt that you're happy with and that they will take and tell to make it jive.
-at 60 minutes, pack up and leave, tell the salesman that he's got your number, when should you expect the call to pick up your car.
In my case, they called telling me their still working on it at 10am the next day, 4pm, 10am the following and I picked it up that evening.
my not work for everybody, but it has for me hansomely.

This is the deal-breaker for many folks that want to make decent coin. They talk a good game, but when it comes down to working 70, 80 or 90 hours a week to make the move they can't hang.
I'm not in Jugg's league, but I do pretty well. I hustle...all the time. I never thought I'd make six figures in my life but have done it the last two years running.
Bill, if you want to make it happen, you can. It's going to require hard work and lots o' sacrifices.

I actually limit my people to 45-50 hours. Most of 'em only work a straight 40. The rest is optional. I don't want them burned out. This job is tough enough without that kinda stress. I do the 60-70 thing but I want them sane.

I guess I'm speaking from the "making things happen" point of view. I rarely work 75+ hours a week any more, but I don't work 40 either. I guess my point is more that it's an inner drive kinda thing.

yep...other reps at my work wonder how I out perform all of them. The average rep pulls in 80-120k in rev...I did 440k last month. this month'll be lighter at 200k. Its all about desire to do the job right, do it well and do it complete. My day rarely ends at 5 and never starts at 8am. Im there between 7:20-7:40 and leave when the day is done, often past 7 - especially on Fridays.
I have quadrupled my income in the last 4 years. 07 should be my first 6 figure year.

Yup. It goes a long long way. I know a lot of people in my industry who are good, but don't really have any drive that still make $30-$40k a year. I'll probably make 8-10 times that next year and it's not because I'm that much "better" than them, just a lot more motivated.

Yesterday was an excercise in futility. From about noon until 3, I was moving stuff from one of my now housemates' houses into the big house that we're moving into, then I had to go into work at 5. I was working closing shift, so I didn't get out of that damned place until 11:30, and I never had a chance to sit down all night, and yet, I still wasn't finished. After work, we had to take two more loads of stuff from the old house to the big house, including a rather large aquarium and a ferret cage that had to be tied on top of her station wagon. The ferret cage had to be taken up a narrow stairway, and after the last load was unloaded, it was about 2 in hte morning, so I finally sat down, and started to fall asleep. I think I got home around 3, and just passed out for good.
When I woke up, my knees were killing me, and my throat and sinuses were feeling icky. Needless to say, I called in sick, especially considering that I found out last night that my manager is fucking around with the reported tips in the computer so that the store won't have to compensate anyone.
