Count me in. There is a place on Ken Caryl and C-470 (Cuba-Libra) that has a nice cigar bar and they have a great house brand. I dont smoke enough to be an expert, but I do enjoy a nice one now and then.

I smoke em about once or twice a month tops. But I like good cigars. These are excellent, although they should be at about $20 a pop. And hard to find. I got lucky and snagged the last four the Cigar shop I go to had.

Special occasions only. I can tell the difference between cheap and expensive though - the first really sour cheapo I had taught me that lesson quick.

The cigars were the highlight of my Vegas trip this weekend. I like them alot, but I'm like Inazone, I'm not an aficionado.
I probably smoked 10 in 2 days this weekend.

Oh, and since the 3 of us are here, Denver meetup, August 13th, Boulder. Check HCBF for details.

I rode the craze for a while and still smoke one on occasion. I've got humidor in my office with a few in there.

I think my favorite cigar that I've smoked was an Arturo Fuentes Opus X Fuente Fuente. It was so damned good I thought about eating that which I could not smoke.

Opus are good.

I have some Arturo Fuente Hemmingways that are very nice as well. I actually like these Padron cigars better than the Opus I tried last month and quite a bit more than my beloved cuban Montecristos. They're all very good though.

The best one Ive had was when I went to race car driving school at miami homestead speedway. One night for dinner they took us out to sea on a yaught. They had a guy roll them right there on the boat and the cigar was perfect. Fresh, loads of flavor and taste.

I've got a humidor with about half a box of Dominican Romeo y Julietas in it. I also have the little ones too. The reason I bought the box was that I had a cuban Romeo y Julieta when a friend of mine's first child was born and that is what he was passing out. I smoked that cigar until there was 1/2 inch of it left and it burned my fingers.

I'm the same way. It's not that I can't appreciate a good cigar; I just get tired of smoking it after 20 minutes or so. I'd prefer to hand-roll a cigarette with good tobacco most days.

Most of the good Dominicans are grown from the same seeds and in a similar climate, but there are still differences due to soil content, etc. Overall, Cubans are my favorite, even from the same cigar manufacturer. The Dominican Montecristos are not quite as good as the Cuban ones. the gap is shrinking, but it's still there.

There are a ton of great cigars coming out of Nicaragua and the DR and other places these days though.

It's all tax. Countries like Portugal and Spain have very low tax on alcohol and tobacco. The UK, Ireland and others have outrageous tax amounts on them. These governments apply the taxes under the guise that it will deter people from using them - which is, of course, bullshit.

Backwoods work better than Phillies. That's the only thing I remember from my stoner days. Most of the rest of those years are pretty cloudy.

Nothing like a good single malt and a cigar! I started that as a tradition in my family (though sometimes we do cognac)

Ok, now that we know quite a few inmates smoke them, the next question is:

Do you inhale or just puff?

Personally, I inhaled when I was a smoker. Now that I've quit, I have had one of the small R&J's and coughed for 5 minutes when I tried to smoke one. That was about 4 months into my hiatus. Now I'm at 8 and still haven't smoked anything except meat since...

There's definitely a buzz to inhaling a cigar. I find that puffing for the first 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch works best, then it mellows to a really nice smoke and body buzz. As far as sizes go, I prefer cigars that are about half again as thick as a sharpie marker and about the same length. I have had the huge cuban cohibas and they were just too much. The cuban R&J I mentioned earlier was of the perfect size. YMMV

Yum............

I figured I'd just get a good solid single malt until I get my monthly onus check. Then I'm gonna go for something a little more spendy. I also need some more cigars soon as I've been smoking quite a few of the good ones. I need to find more of the Padron 1964 anniversary ones though......

As I understand it, Kennedy was a Partega smoker and the story goes that the night before he imposed the embargo on all imports from Cuba, he sent his team out to all of the tobacco shops within a few hundred miles of DC and bought up all of the cuban Partegas before illegalizing them. Talk about insider information...

I don't think I'll buy $7500 worth of them, but I'll see if I can find some singles..........:D

EDIT: They have a 5 pack for $144 of the ones I would want...........that's still $29 a cigar, but might be worth it.

dunno man, $30 per stick for cigars? that's a bit rich for my blood. i'm pretty content with the occasional $10 cigar, and $1 to $2 cigars in between...

I client of mine was so happy with the way I negotiated his home purchse, he bought me a 200 cigar humidor & filled it with fuente's!!! He's a cigar guy too so he knew he couldn't go wrong with his choice in thank you gifts. :smoker:

The mini Belicosos.

I've not had the Port Wood finish, but the Doublewood is excellent. Matured in a whisky cask and a sherry cask, very subtle hints of sherry throughout but with a mellow honey sort of taste at the end. Beautiful, although too delicate for a cigar I would say.

Again, special occasion smoker only. We have a great tobacconist here in Bristol who would be able to get ANYTHING in for you. And of course, we're not limited to Dominican's or Nicaraguan's over here.
