Someone just tried to scam me on an Ebay auction. I opened my email and
there was a message from Ebay 're: a member message request' on a current
auction. The guy shows zero transactions and wants to know if I'll ship to
New Jersey. Like a dumb fuck I click on the Instant Reply button to tell him
yes but that I'll have to wait for the Paypal payment to be sitting in my
bank account before I'll ship because of his zero feedback. The link is
taking forever and I see 'redir' in the address. I quickly close the
connection and click on the auction reference. It also has 'redir' in the
address and I close it. I then open my Ebay account and there is nothing
from this guy anywhere in my messages and/or in the auction. I re-read his
Ebay page and he has it down perfectly. This is the first time that I've
seen every detail in proper English on an Ebay or Paypal phishing scam. I
only hope that I closed it before he got anything that could be harmful.
I'll never click through like that again.

I doubt you got "scammed" because you didn't give him any info. The scam
would have occurred when you entered your username and pass on the phony
"login" page, thus giving him access to your account.
I still get the ones in broken Engrish wondering why I haven't shipped their
motorcycle yet. sometimes I like you click through and write stuff like
username: fuckyou pass: scammers
or do the bank ones and pretend I have $million in my account...
It amuses me, at any rate.

If your receive suspicious messages from someone, delete them.
I once responded to one of those and I quickly changed my password after I
realized what I had done.
They want your password.

As long as you didn't attempt to log in, I think you're okay.
