I just bought a used (but new to me, obviously) mixer from someone in the HC classifieds.
It's an 8 channel behringer, with 4 mic preamps, and 99 built-in effects.
I don't have any mics yet, nor any monitors... :smack: But, plugging basses into the first four channels, and listening through my DJ headphones has been quite fun so far. :)
The whole thing seems a bit noisy, but I'll probably be able to figure out a way to clean that up.
My guitarist friend has a portable studio in some large (~10-U) SKB racks that we've been talking about bringing over to my house. The big downfall of his setup was the mixer. He has a beat up, barely functional, table-sized Sunn that he's been fighting with for years.
I'm excited about getting some of that equipment set up, for a few reasons; I'd like to be able to make dumb recordings of my own stuff, I'd like to be able to record us/others. It will also give me a good opportunity to really play with routing some audio through devices and whatnot. I know I'm going to need to relearn some of what I used to know; but that's the fun of it!
I'm just kind of rambling, but I doubt anyone minds. :dunno:
