I picked up the Clevinger EUB 5 string and have been having a blast with it.

Can you tune a eub to E flat or will that make the strings all floppy, Does DB and EUB have to be tuned standard?

Nice score. That's a sweet EUB, lots of people pored over that thing...

Hey, congrats! That's a wild finish on that thing - I like it.

I've tuned down 1/2 step with no problem. I wouldn't go beyond that - the fundamental depth on that lowest note will make any amp beg for mercy.

Cool, thanks for the info.
There is a band Im sitting in with that has some Stray Cats, Elvis, Cash type songs and I would like to use the EUB but the band tunes down a half step. It should be fun.

I emailed Clevinger about the bass and they said that they did a custom run of 15 basses with that finish. They said the finish alone was worth the price of the bass.

I really went back and forth on what to do, but in the end, Im glad I went for it.

Ive found this to be true.:D

The combo amps Ive played through have a "fuzz" to the tone when I play the lower strings. It really does take a bit of headroom to play at volume.

Thanks again for the info from the other day.

I guess I have another question, What the average string height for EUB/DB?

Isn't there some sort of limit on how many kick-ass basses one person is allowed to own? :D

I think mine's about 1/4" at the octave.

Mine feels much higher than that. Thanks for the starting point, Ill get a tape out and give it a bit of a set up.

Very

Do you use a end pin or the tripod? Mine came the the end pin and I really like it but Im having trouble finding a stand for it when its not in use.

Martin (Jennifer) will sell you one. I'm on my second one. Unless you're going to play it all night, you pretty much need one.

The endpin is the only way to go IMO.

You should come down to the shop. Should have come last week, actually, when Inazone's Modulus was still there, the Benavente was still there, and the Clevinger wasn't at Inazone's house.:D

Bob, do you ever use a bow with yours?

Only with the Bears. The first tune on the new record has a little bowed section, but it's going to be difficult to pull off as there's a nanosecond before and after it where I have to be on fender. I can switch pretty quick, but it's gong to be a toughie.
