Well, recording is going nicely on Chat. It's sounding huge already before we've even mixed or mastered it, still lots to do on it as well...details.
We're just coming up with a few ideas of getting a good PR campaign for when it's released and I wanted to pick your brains about a few things that might help the word of mouth spread (it seems to be our best way of doing things these days as we never seem to write commercial songs).
The idea is to get a load of musical instrument shops, local affairs, behind selling the album and generating a small buzz that way, as well as getting reviews in as many smaller fanzines/papers as possible. What i'd like is your favourite, intelligent music stores and sites please - the big commercial ones we can deal with ourselves and well aware who they are, but we're into making friends and the small indies are where we'd like to head for. Anywhere in the world - this inculdes radio stations as well that like to take a chance or have an alternative music show for instance. Real world or online, no bother.
Now we're out of the record contract we're going to be doing it all ourselves, this means Itunes sales without the terrible explicit labelling our record company seemed to find it necessary to put on our albums, as well as getting it to go through one hard working distributor rather than a handful of lazy ones.
Thanks in advance. Any whacky ideas are welcome.
